Universe Has Finite Lifespan, New Theory States

Interesting article here. According to this new theory our current universe will be replaced when the higgs field becomes unstable and a new universe expands destroying this one. I thought it was interesting because it seems to revert back to a kind of cyclic existence theory whereas it seemed to me that before this the big crunch idea had been replaced by the big rip theory where the universe just expands and expands until there's basically nothing for the rest of eternity. Anyway, I know it's one of the issues the Buddha put aside but I just thought some people might find it interesting.

I recently took a biology class and the professor told the class that space is not infinite. I probably would have gave my belief that it is infinite if it weren't for that fact that he was the professor and I didn't want to make him my enemy or be in a disccussion where I had to decide on whether I wanted the last word but would have been probably kicked out of class. Existence and space is infinite.

I think the Buddha does talk about different worlds in the Nikayas. But I'm not sure. I know the abbidamma does.
