Looking for talks/lessons...

Post by UpwardBound »

Hi all!

I'm looking for recommendations for dhamma talks that I can burn to CD for a daily commute. I'm thinking it will be a good way to listen to the same talk several times throughout the week, but was wondering if anybody had any specific recommendations that may have been found helpful. I'm specifically interested in reexamining the four noble truths/eightfold path right now, but would love to add any recommendations received to the list.

Metta, all.

Ajahn Brahm's talks are available on Youtube as well under his channel: http://www.youtube.com/BuddhistSocietyWA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Gain and loss, status and disgrace,
censure and praise, pleasure and pain:
these conditions among human beings are inconstant,
impermanent, subject to change.

Knowing this, the wise person, mindful,
ponders these changing conditions.
Desirable things don’t charm the mind,
undesirable ones bring no resistance.

His welcoming and rebelling are scattered,
gone to their end,
do not exist.

A large amount of very good stuff can be found here: http://www.dharmaseed.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would highly recommend these talks by the Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi.

The performance of what's skillful,
The cleansing of one's own mind:
This is the Buddhas' teaching.

From Abhayagiri Monastery:

http://www.abhayagiri.org/audio
"Delighting in existence, O monks, are gods and men; they are attached to existence, they revel in existence. When the Dhamma for the cessation of existence is being preached to them, their minds do not leap towards it, do not get pleased with it, do not get settled in it, do not find confidence in it. That is how, monks, some lag behind."

These are great, great lists - I've burned some really helpful CDs and it's helped quite a bit.
