... but probably not. 8-)

I voted for Petty but I admit I'm not as familiar with Dylan's work as I should be. I really liked his collaboration with Johnny Cash on the song Girl From the North Country.

Hi retro,

I studied Classical music for quite a while, but I'm going to display my ignorance regarding popular styles by admitting that, I am only familiar with three of those names offhand. I picked Harrison (assuming he's the George Harrison from the Beatles). 8-)

Haha you certainly got me excited with that title...I was expecting a question of cosmic significance or something, and then I saw 'travelling wilbury' and although the name sounded familiar, I didn't actually know what that meant :P

Edit - just looked them up on Wiki. Very interesting. I'm actually trying to avoid listening to too much music at present, unless it's slow, soothing music that won't get stuck in my head (which sadly rules out most popular music). But someday when I'm less sensitive to music, I might have a listen.

One vote for Bob? What's going on here? :rolleye:

"Tweeter and the Monkey Man" is obviously the highlight of the Album...

There's a clip on the DVD I have round here somewhere of Bob singing an early take, which demonstrates part of his creative process. The line in the clip:
Tweeter took his gun away and treated him unkind
comes out in the final take as a much more menacing:
An ambulance rolled up - a state trooper close behind
Tweeter took his gun away and messed up his mind..

Make that two votes for Bob
Not really for his work with this group, which I have heard but not listened to very much because it didn't grab me, but for everything else he has done.

Just keep breathing in and out like this. Don't be interested in anything else. It doesn't matter even if someone is standing on their head with their ass in the air. Don't pay it any attention. Just stay with the in-breath and the out-breath. Concentrate your awareness on the breath. Just keep doing it. http://www.ajahnchah.org/book/Just_Do_It_1_2.php

I'm a Petty man. Dylan comes a close 2nd.

My parents have biased me for Petty, as was a staple for us when I was growing up. The rest of these guys are barely more than names to me.

I didn't vote. In my view there's not so much difference between all of them.
Dylan was / is a great poet.

Sigh. :console:
I guess you can't help it that you were too young to know Bob Dylan when his work and his whole approach was new and vital, inspiring everyone in the counterculture and nearly everyone in the music scene.
