Hello from Beautiful British Columbia! Metta to U!

Post by SitavanaJLO »

I am a Theravada Buddhist from the interior of BC, near Birken Forest Monastery and Kamloops, BC. I joined the Buddhist Group on MyFitnessPal.com and linked here from a post by a fellow member. How wonderful to find these online communities for those of us somewhat isolated from large centres. Our sangha is relatively small and has monthly gatherings with Ajahn Sona. He is going into a year of silent retreat so we will be with him in spirit as we practice. There is a huge library of dhamma talks on the Birken.ca website as well. Looking forward to exploring this site and expanding my knowledge and practice. I welcome contact and send metta to all beings. (MWF, 2 daughters, 1 grandson, meditation & fitness teacher, retired social worker, artist, organic gardener, country dweller in paradise mountain retreat with partner and poodle and koi.) :buddha1:

:hello:
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Hello. :hello:

I've long meant to visit Birken, but seldom go over mountains.

loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
