Be a person with two eyes

Postby binocular » Wed Apr 10, 2013 5:13 am

Hello,

First of all, gratitude to the moderators who have registered me during this forum transition time!

I guess I'm kind of speshal right away, given that the date of my official joining is not when I actually joined. Something to remind me of falling asleep at the wheel ...

About myself: I have been involved with Buddhism for some seven years. On and off, ups and downs. Lots to work with.
I want to improve my understanding of the Dhamma, and I've noticed that talking to practitioners is something that can help me in that. That's why I joined.

Best wishes to you all!

Thank you!

Be a person with two eyes - that's from a talk by Ajaan Lee:

Be a person with two eyes. Sometimes an object looks good, but we don't look for its bad side. Sometimes it looks bad, but we don't look for its good side. If something looks beautiful, you have to focus on its bad side as well. If it looks bad, you have to focus on its good side, too.

Hi binocular and welcome to Dhamma Wheel!
Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Taṃ nadīhi vijānātha:
sobbhesu padaresu ca,
saṇantā yanti kusobbhā,
tuṇhīyanti mahodadhī.
