bowing in

Post by nobodhi »

Living in San Francisco Bay Area, where I facilitate a small weekly free drop-in mindfulness practice group; we've completed the meditations in The Blooming of a Lotus, and are now exploring metta, & soon we'll delve into the Anapanasati & Sattipathana. We meet at a center near the sound of the waves.
Upāsaka in the Tiep Hien Order (the Order of Interbeing).
Livelihood = writing, speaking, teaching.
Current focus theme = chronic illness/wellness; also a day/month for prison dharma.

my online name is an allusion to a poem by Emily Dickinson :
I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you - Nobody - too?
Then there's a pair of us!
Dont tell! they'd advertise - you know!

How dreary - to be - Somebody!
How public - like a Frog -
To tell one's name - the livelong June -
To an admiring Bog!

When I saw this thread and your username, my first question was going to be 'how did you pick such a username?' but see you have already answered that.

Hi nobodhi and welcome to Dhamma Wheel!
“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
- Sutta Nipata 3.725
