Beautiful :)

The topic on self and Nirvāṇa is very confusing and has been greatly modified by the media, I my self am only starting to grasp its true meaning.

Thank you for sharing.

PeDrO,
I don't believe that "you" just simply disappear either, after all how can something which does not exist disappear?!!!

Don't forget that each of the terms is in this context: The destruction of greed, hatred, and delusion is Nibbana; the destruction of greed, hatred and delusion is tamed, the destruction of greed, hatred, and delusion is ....

निर्वाण nirvANa n. setting
निर्वाण nirvANa n. offering oblations
निर्वाण nirvANa n. cessation of passions

निर्वाण nirvANa n. disappearance
निर्वाण nirvANa n. instructing in sciences
निर्वाण nirvANa n. death or final emancipation from matter and re-union with the Supreme Spirit

निर्वाण nirvANa n. absolute extinction or annihilation of individual existence or of all desires and passions

I particulalay like the ones I have highlighted!

In my opinion it has nothing to do with the anihalation of self.

I wish somebody would tell wikipedia that! I think the thought that you just disapear depresses a lot of people, even some monks! (I think possibly) I don't believe 'you' do just simply disapaear just the ilusiuon that seperates 'you' from other

Hi Pedro,
Maybe it is the best for you to just practice for the attainment of jhanas and to delight in jhanic bliss rather than thinking too much about nirvana right now. Once you are at a point of experince where you have gained some insights you are still able to revaluate your views if necessary.

Higher than lordship over all earth,
Higher than sojourning in heavens supreme,
Higher than empire over all the worlds,
Is Fruit of Entrance to the Dhamma Stream.
