I don't know about Jains, but there is a book with the title: "Buddhism as presented by the Brahmanical systems", by Chitrarekha V. Kher. I have not read it yet, but it seems to give informations about the Hindu views of Buddhism.

There is no mention of Buddha in jain texts, they do however mention sariputta and i think moggallana as well

You have just re-awakened a thread that has been sleeping peacefully for more than ten years.
I hope you've read it all and followed its links, because most of the people involved are no longer active here.

I think it is important to discuss this matter, as there is momentum building up in Sri Lanka that Buddha was not born in India but in Sri Lanka.
Their argument is the lack of evidence.
Some people doubt Asoka's records due to a lack of reference to Gotham Buddha.
Many people argue that Buddhism was there in Sri Lanka before the visit of Arahant Mahinda.
Is it possible that the Buddha mentioned in the Asoka pillars is about a Hindu Buddha?
It is important to note the similarity between the story of Gotham Buddha and the Jains Mahavira.

Re: buddhists in jain texts?
Despite of the Buddha debate with so many people from other sect, there was a sutta where he did not even want to think about an argument between two people and didn't want to go to the site of argument.
Re: buddhists in jain texts?
I dunno. But in Buddhist text moggalana was murdered by assassins sent by a group of naked ascetics. You know who they are.confusedlayman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 9:46 am what is written about sariputta and moggalana in jain text?
