Which organization do you donate to?
Which organization do you donate to?
Alas, a lot of the well-known charities turn out to use donations for private profit. I have little time to look for a good organization to donate to. Can anyone give any advice?

I know some people don't consider kiva to be much of a 'charity' since the recipients have to re-pay the loan, but most donors don't take the money back and instead re-loan to someone else, changing more lives. And then most add even more money to their pool so that they can loan to more people and groups.

Other bhikkhuni monasteries and funds.
Local temples and Dhamma centers in your area are another option.

Re: Which organization do you donate to?
sorry, I forgot to mention it is Typhoon-oriented info I am looking for at the moment.
As for Kiva, I have read a lot about it not being really what lenders think it is. In the end, people get money for a ridiculously high interest rate and if they can't pay back, they are in even more serious trouble than they were before.
This may also be of interest, although it's a bit old: http://www.tacticalphilanthropy.com/200 ... he-public/
