Welcome, dear Sun!

Happy Winter Solstice!

"An important term for meditative absorption is samadhi. We often translate that as ‘concentration’, but that can suggest a certain stiffness. Perhaps ‘unification’ is a better rendition, as samadhi means ‘to bring together’. Deep samadhi isn't at all stiff. It’s a process of letting go of other things and coming to a unified experience."

Same here in Brisbane, Mike. We're going to have a couple of days at 98 F ( or 35 C) in the next week.

I'm in the tropics, so the sun never really goes away.
Which makes me wonder: how far from the Equator do you have to go before you find a culture that traditionally celebrates the solstices?

They celebrate it in Hong Kong, which is in the tropics (just...).

Not exactly a photo (made from several separate elements) but an interesting image nevertheless. Thanks, Kim.
