Hello from New Jersey

Post by nicosc »

Hi Everyone,
I am new here. I happen to live in NJ (US) at the moment, no affiliation, solitary practice, as I don't really know anyone here. I have been interested in Buddhism on and off practically since my teen years (they are long gone now), practiced for a brief time with a small non-Theravada group, and on and off by myself. I have resurrected my meditation practice a few months ago, this time, after careful examination making sure I stick with the Theravada tradition.

I actually joined the forum to ask a question that has been bothering me for a while (bare awareness vs. anti-base awareness), but after browsing through the forum I saw that the topic has been raised, unfortunately with no conclusion, so I guess I am going to continue to follow my worn out Bhante G's book and dhamma as taught by the Burmese and Ceylonese teachers ;)

Anyway, glad to be here, looking forward to learn for all of you!

Welcome!

:anjali:
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

Aflame with the fire of passion, the fire of aversion, the fire of delusion.
Aflame, with birth, aging & death, with sorrows, lamentations, pains, distresses, & despairs ......

Seeing thus, the disciple of the Noble One grows disenchanted. SN 35.28
