5th & final Ashes Test 2009 (series locked at 1-1)

Greetings,

Today or tonight (depending where you live), the 5th and final Test match between England and Australia will commence place at The Oval. Test Matches go for up to 5 days and even then, there's not always a winner!

The series is presently tied at 1-1 and England have to actually win the match in order to reclaim "The Ashes"



(I've actually seen the trophy in person, but this photo isn't mine... we weren't allowed to take pictures on our Lord's tour).

If the Test is drawn, Australia will retain the Ashes, after the last Ashes series in which the Australians humiliated England 5-0 in a series which saw the Test retirement of Aussie greats such as Justin Langer, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

It's a bit more evenly contested and on English soil this time... so it's a much closer series.

Hey Ben .... Isn't that New Zealand?

An Australian ventriloquist visiting New Zealand, walks into a small village and sees a local sitting on his porch patting his dog. He figures he'll have a little fun.
Ventriloquist: "G'day Mate! Good looking dog, mind if I speak to him?"
Villager: "The dog doesn't talk, you stupid Aussie."
Ventriloquist: "Hello dog, how's it going mate?"
Dog: "Doin' all right"
Villager: (look of extreme shock)
Ventriloquist: "Is this villager your owner?" (pointing at the villager)
Dog: "Yep"
Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"
Dog: "Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes me to the lake once a week to play."
Villager: (look of utter disbelief)
Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your horse?"
Villager: "Uh, the horse doesn't talk either....I think."
Ventriloquist: "Hey horse, how's it going?"
Horse: "Cool"
Villager: (absolutely dumbfounded)
Ventriloquist: "Is this your owner?" (pointing at the villager)
Horse: "Yep"
Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"
Horse: "Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements."
Villager: (total look of amazement)
Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your sheep?"
Villager: "The sheep's a liar"

But you could be right - it could easily be New Zealand as well.
