Changes
Here's a situation update. My wife and I moved from Manchester to Southend-on-Sea. I'm still working in a prestigious selective boys' school, just a different one. I've also received several promotions over the course of the year and my career looks set to continue to progress rapidly.
I've bean practising Buddhism for over six years now. My practice is far from perfect, by progress is progress. The difference is now I can be open about it. My family have accepted my choice.
The biggest change is that I am now a father. My daughter was born last night and weighs 33 newtons. My wife had no pain medication, and the birth was natural. She did very well indeed. The baby and my wife are both fine.
We were told years ago that my wife would be unable to have children. Looks like even medical diagnoses are impermanent.
At this moment, I'm very happy and content. Although I'm not an active contributor to this community anymore, I thought it would be news some of you might like to hear.

Congratulations. Having kids was wonderful and enriching in my experience.

and it's always good to hear from people we used to know but haven't seen for a while - and that includes people we've only 'known' online.
Be well, be happy and enjoy the changes in your life.

Blessings upon you, your wife, your child and your lives together.

‘Absit invidia verbo’ - may ill-will be absent from the word. And mindful of that, if I don't respond, this may be why....

Congrats Mawkish!!
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

Congratulations, Mawkish!
Children tend to throw a spanner into many things at once, and if we cope with that it is a good thing. Ours have been and continue to be my greatest living Dhamma teachers.
