Forest monastery in Boston
Re: Forest monastery in Boston
I know ven. Caganando from our Anagarika days at Nanachat 10 years ago. He is wonderful person, he must be an impressive monk.
Get the wanting out of waiting
What does womanhood matter at all, when the mind is concentrated well, when knowledge flows on steadily as one sees correctly into Dhamma. One to whom it might occur, ‘I am a woman’ or ‘I am a man’ or ‘I’m anything at all’ is fit for Mara to address. – SN 5.2
If they take what's yours, tell yourself that you're making it a gift.
Otherwise there will be no end to the animosity. - Ajahn Fuang Jotiko

Re: Forest monastery in Boston
I visited them while they stayed in Boston this summer. Sounds like there is lots of support, and if they can get it OKed with the senior monks in the UK, then they'll be back next summer.
Very excited to see this happening around my neck of the woods.

Just a quick update. The monks (presumably Ajahns Jayanto and Caganando) will be moving in to the monastery on July 1st. Sadhu !

Thanks for the info and heads-up, Cittasanto. We live just up the road from the intended building site. Will get in touch with the organizing members to see how we can help.Cittasanto wrote:pilgrim wrote:Looks like the project is kicking off

A head of gray hairs doesn't mean one's an elder. Advanced in years, one's called an old fool.
But one in whom there is truth, restraint, rectitude, gentleness,self-control, he's called an elder, his impurities disgorged, enlightened.

Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.
He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …

He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Cittasantao, No problem. Will pass on any information that comes to my attention.

Just looked up the proposed site on MapQuest: The proposed Monestary will be in Temple, NH. (Temple, NH is roughly 52 miles south-west of where we live in Concord, NH.).

He is. I've had to the pleasure of spending some time with him while he's been staying at the Pacific Hermitage. He's extremely kind, intelligent, and has a wonderful sense of humour. Quite inspiring.Sokehi wrote:I know ven. Caganando from our Anagarika days at Nanachat 10 years ago. He is wonderful person, he must be an impressive monk.
