Hello there
Some of you may know me from bhuddahchat.org or Bhuddism without boundaries. My name is Stephen and I have very recently joined a Samantha meditation group which i think is in teh Theravadin tradition. I havebeen reading about general buddhism for some time now and feel liek I am starting out on the path.

Welcome to Dhamma Wheel.
Would it be the Samatha Trust that you've joined? If so, that's a splendid start.Slartibartfast wrote:My name is Stephen and I have very recently joined a Samantha meditation group which i think is in the Theravadin tradition. Welcome Stephen. Hope you find something useful here.

Welcome!
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

They are certainly affiliated to the trust but I haven't joined the trust myself...yet we'll see. Like I say I've just started meditating and am having difficulty kicking back for 10 minutes lol.Dhammanando wrote:Hi Stephen,

hi Stephen
is it the samatha trust?
I think it is theravadin and know a couple of people who go to one of the groups on occasion but nothing more!

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …

He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.
