Tired yet again
as I get up out of bed
time to go to work!

Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

Down the garden path:
fruitless, yet flowers bloom...
Weed the primroses.
  • "And how is it, bhikkhus, that by protecting oneself one protects others? By the pursuit, development, and cultivation of the four establishments of mindfulness. It is in such a way that by protecting oneself one protects others.

"And how is it, bhikkhus, that by protecting others one protects oneself? By patience, harmlessness, goodwill, and sympathy. It is in such a way that by protecting others one protects oneself.

the very dust and pavements
smell like sweet incense.

The following is probably not a Haiku, but if I may, I would like to share a poem that I wrote. If it does not belong in accordance with this thread please feel free to delete it.

END

This is the end of the day
nothing more to think
nothing more to do
life is dead
Death is born.

The dream's over
but reality is not found
Incessant
Infinity ceases
and rises again.

Without body
It ascends,
Without hope
The Silence
Without feature
The Freedom
Without time, without dimension,
Without form
Existence.

The mold is broken
The vessel destroyed

The mind awakens.

I just discovered this thread.
Fantastic work, everyone!
Keep up your efforts!
“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”

in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Reviving Haiku thread,
So much wisdom written here -
Reading is a joy!

I adore Haiku.
Doubtless the vast majority of you will know the Haiku Format "rules" but just in case we have some newbies (ande even veterans) who don't:

The format is a 3-line poem: the first line contains 5 syllables, the second, 7, and the third, again, 5.

The first and third line should make perfect sense being read on their own, with the middle line omitted (see my Haiku, above).

Hazy summer heat
I can barely care to move
in the glaring sun.

Chilling Ice and snow
Winter has us in its grip
Piercing to my bones.

I have done my bit
given you all an idea
So now it's your go......

My poor aching body
Mind intact and sapient
Yes, this too shall pass.

Those are not Haiku
Strictly speaking there are rules.
Read my notes, above....

...Although I must say
Their expression is profound
Leave them as they are....
