This is something I always wondered.
The following post prompt me to raise this question.
=========
Actually here in southern California, we've had several firefighters arrested for setting fires, job security I guess......

Are police responsible for the crimes?
Are defence responsible for the wars?
Are law makers responsible for breaking laws?
Are politicians and religious leaders responsible for the divisions?
Are trying to do good is the cause for suffering?
Then how should we do good things?
Should we have less fire fighters?
Should we have less fire fighters?

Re: Should we have less fire fighters?
Anarchy. Just kidding, but if there are too many, then certainly less would be better. When there are too many government workers in any department, the workers get idle and an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Some spend their time justifying their positions, some get corrupt, some do crimes. When I worked for the U.S. government, my job was useful and important when I was working directly in law enforcement, however, as I got promoted to higher positions I found myself with more pay and less work and more time that was supposed to be spent justifying my position rather than doing anything very useful. I left to pursue private enterprise.SarathW wrote: Then how should we do good things?
Less politicians sounds good. Less military sounds good too.

Re: Should we have less fire fighters?
Criminals are responsible for crimes and police exist to stop and prevent crime. Some police happen to be criminals which is unfortunate; this is more conspicuous and/or prevalent in certain countries.SarathW wrote:Are police responsible for the crimes?

Come and live in Australia in the summer bushfire season each year - the Fire men and women work tirelessly, daily risking their lives to protect people, property, domestic and native animals and birds from the huge bush fires we have in all States. It is not rare to hear of deaths occurring among firefighters. They are heroes/heroines.

Hi Cooran and Mkol
I agree with you.
The point I am trying to make is we spent to much of our resources on cure not on prevention.
If we spend more money on education of our children we will have less of those criminals and fire bugs.
