Re: What are some good hobbies?
Depends on your interests. For me it is:
1. Dhamma Wheel
2. Kalyana mitta / networking with Dhamma friends online & off
3. Reading & studying suttas
4. Meditation
5. Exercise
6. Chess
In approximately the above order.

Re: What are some good hobbies?
I tend to spend my time reading as a hobby. It's a mentally fulfilling exercise.
Re: What are some good hobbies?
Mine at the moment are swimming, archery (target shooting) and cooking for family and friends.
Kind regards

Playing the harp, and playing the viol with friends.
Why the viol?
Read what Thomas Mace so eloquently said about this in his "Musick's Monument", 1676:
We had for our Grave Musick, Fancies of 3, 4, 5, and 6 Parts to the Organ; Interpos‘d (now and then) with some Pavins, Allmaines, Solemn, and Sweet Delightful Ayres; all which were (as it were) so many Pathettical Stories, Rhetorical, and Sublime Discourses; Subtil and Accute Argumentations; so Suitable, and Agreeing to the Inward, Secret, and Intellectual Faculties of the Soul and Mind; that to set Them forth according to their True Praise, there are no Words Sufficient in Language; yet what I can best speak of Them, shall be only to say, That They have been to my self, (and many others) as Divine Raptures, Powerfully Captivating all our unruly Faculties, and Affections, (for the Time) and disposing us to Solidity, Gravity, and a Good Temper; making us capable of Heavenly, and Divine Influences. ... And These Things were Performed, upon so many Equal, and Truly-Sciz'd Viols; and so Exactly Strung, Tun'd, and Play'd upon, as no one Part was any Impediment to the Other, but still (as the Composition required) by Intervals, each Part Amplified, and Heightened the Other, The Organ Evenly, Softly, and Sweetly Acchording to All.

Re: What are some good hobbies?
My newest hobby is CHAINSAWING! and then splitting wood. It's wonderful, and a bit scary.
I cut huge cypress and pine trees into rounds, then split them with the axe into bits the right size for the log fire.
Then, when winter comes around, I can sit in my shack and meditate, while outside it is snowing.
A friend of mine said "Dude, I have never heard anyone link chainsawing so intimately with meditation."
But it's true, chainsaws are an integral part of preparing for my practise. I don't see it as work, it's a fun hobby.
BTW it's a Stihl 066, a very very large chainsaw. The engine is bigger than some motorcycles I have owned.

Books are always a great hobby, sadly I'm stuck at the moment, I'm desperate to read The Dream of the Red Chamber, and got it out of my local library, but am nowhere near intelligent enough to read it!

How about learning a language? If you choose Chinese, Pali, Sanskrit or Tibetan (among others) you could combine your hobby with sutra study!
