I think it would be great to try to collect and compile all the great Dhamma resources on the web into one easy to view basket. I've seen this done on other sites dedicated to knowledge and I think it's a very good idea.
I see we've got a thread in the 'Discovering Theravada' section, on good resources for beginners, and a thread in General Theravada on 'Good resources in foreign languages' but how about an 'Ultimate Resource Guide' in the General Theravada section?
Here is an example of what I Imagine it would look like:
Ultimate Resource Guide
Tipitaka and Discourse
- A2I (site description goes here)
- Mettanet (site description goes here)
- tipitaka.org (explanation goes here)
Online teachings and expositions
- Aimwell.org (site description goes here)
Dhamma blogs (blogs would have to be ratified as good resources)
- Dhammawheel (You are here )
Places to acquire printed Dhamma
- wisdom pubs
Dana (places to give)
- Google Saffron
Posts following the main post could be user contributions and suggestions, but the original post should be used for compiling the resources. The OP should then collect any new resources that the community thinks is good and edit them into the original post.
I'd be happy to have a wee crack at this, but if others think they would like to do it more then that's fine too - It would probably be a bit of work, responsibility and an on going project with community review (to make sure it remains good quality)
What do you think about this? Good idea, bad idea?
