Does anyone know what the word sūdanī means?
I can't seem to find it in the usual Pali dictionaries.
I assume the 'su' prefix might indicate happy, or pleasant?

Greetings,
Does anyone know what the word sūdanī means?
I can't seem to find it in the usual Pali dictionaries.

A "sūda" is a cook, so I guess "sūdani" is the plural form? What is the context?

Sūdana means cleaning. See Visuddhimagga XI, 125 note 46 to this verse:
That is how this benefit of the development of concentration is fivefold as a blissful abiding here and now, and so on.
So wise men fail not in devotion
To the pursuit of concentration:
It cleans defiling of stains' pollution,[note 46]
And brings rewards past calculation.
It says an alternative reading here is Sodhana:
Sodhana (nt.) [fr. sodheti] cleansing Vism 276 (as f. ˚nā); examining J i.292; payment (see uddhāra) J i.321.

I couldn't find any English translation yet either, just:
sūda (or) sūdaka = cook

if su means happy dani means now according to a program I have so it could mean now happy?
couldn't find a direct translation of the word, but the closest I found was suda which as Bhante says means cook.

This offering maybe right, or wrong, but it is one, the other, both, or neither!

The -ī suffix in sūdanī indicates an actor rather than an action-noun, hence "cleanser."

A correction: since there's no 'h' in sūdanī "cleanser" isn't correct. The word comes from the root *sūd not *sodh. Hence, "Eradicator/Destroyer of Papañca". Also, I suspect papañca here is intended in its broad sense of impediment or stumbling block, rather than its narrow sense of diffuseness or proliferation.
