Re: E sangha temp relocate to www.buddhist-community.com
Thanks for the links. But something tells me that the first one is a whole new site, and not "temp relocation" of E-Sangha.Octogon88 wrote:http://www.buddhist-community.com/forum.php

Trend micro blocks me from visiting buddhist-community :\

Re: E sangha temp relocate to www.buddhist-community.com
Have a look and judge for yourselves, but I found Buddhist-Community appalling. It's like Devadatta has been reborn. I had a look, and quickly departed.
There seems to be no moderation at all, there are flame-wars, swearing, abuse of members, and one person clearly has multiple accounts and user-names, and is spending a lot of time abusing other members.
This is an example of what's currently at Buddhist Community... this was posted on the 14th, now it's the 19th, and no moderator has bothered to do anything about it:

f*** you C-----!
We will get you and K-----, there's noplace you can hide. We will attack you no matter where you go.
It's just so crazy there :cookoo:The Esangha site was hacked by Theravadans and the code collapsed.
All the real Buddhists have gone back to their Dharma centers and are studying Buddha's real Dharma instead of "chat"ing.
Meanwhile, the anti-Buddhist Theravadans are spamming this site, lead by -------- --------- (most of the attack accounts are her fake accounts) so no discussion of real Buddhist Dharma can take place (except in secured groups and on a private network where the real content is posted and Theravadans are banned).

I knew Theravadans were evil! That must be why I like hanging around here!

Re: E sangha temp relocate to www.buddhist-community.com
So Octogon88's first post was to advertise a Buddhist forum claiming it to be e-sangha (despite the many e-sangha moderators here who would have posted this link on the e-sangha thread, had this link have truly been a temporary site for e-sangha). Isn't advertising on dhammawheel against the terms and conditions somewhere?
I'm fairly sure if I was to stand in the middle of a Burgerking and promote McDonalds I would firmly be asked to leave, and rightly so.

lets get back to plotting world domination!

Re: E sangha temp relocate to www.buddhist-community.com
Buddhist-Community is a good example of what happens when a forum is left unattended, unmoderated, that is. Leo said he created that to provide a more social setting without much moderation and since that time appears to have abandoned it with absolutely no moderation.
Members are using the 'f' word frequently, there is sectarianism, and members are impersonating each other to make each other look bad. I stopped posting messages there to avoid being drawn into such squabbles. In one of their forums, Allison Currie has explained one of the ways an impersonator could be exposed, which apparently has been done to her.
If anyone complains about moderation here, maybe I'll just show them what happens with no moderation by providing a link to Buddhist-Community.
A while back when the fighting there was starting, Leo posted something like, "at e-sangha people complained that there was too much moderation, here people complain that there is not enough."
He has a good point and it is impossible to keep everyone pleased.
I guess we will have to find the happy, perfect "middle."

I think we have it hereDavid N. Snyder wrote: I guess we will have to find the happy, perfect "middle."
If I may say so, this is a wonderful place to have relocated to.
Great work

Re: E sangha temp relocate to www.buddhist-community.com
Well, this thread got me to finally register there. Though after looking around in the forum, I don't think I'll be posting there. At least not until they clean it up.
I'm leery of social networking sites to start with. Being familiar with the ad platforms from the popular social networking sites and how user data is profited from, I have a hard time accepting them for my own personal use. I dislike when my data is reduced to somebody else's commodity. Which may just be some aversion I've developed from running my business and being one of those people who has profited off of the user data of others.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C. Re: E sangha temp relocate to www.buddhist-community.com
I was an active member at Buddhist Community, and I enjoyed it for awhile. But the one person who has exclusive moderation rights has not logged in for over 2 months. A cultist has made every effort to disrupt any and all useful communication there. Other members are confused, and try responding via a wide range of behaviors, most of which are not constructive.

PS- Allison ________ is a friend of mine. I am not sure why this lunatic has launched this slander campaign, but it pains me to see her name showing up on this site in that context. Could we edit that quote?
