I read somewhere that the playing chess 'in the air' meant playing blindfolded; no board or pieces, just using memory for where the pieces are and making your moves by reciting off e4, Nf3, etc. It is a very difficult task to play blindfolded. Most people cannot go beyond 6 moves or so and then only make illegal moves (from not fully memorizing the board position) and thus, lose the game.Oleksandr wrote:Ākāsa - space (and "playing chess without seeing them", - probably just saying moves?)
