For my Aussie mates!

Post by Paññāsikhara »

Hi,

Just stumbled across this one:
http://www.buddhismaustralia.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Reading down a couple of lines:

Buddhism does not have terrorists but it does have Theravadins.
The Weapons of Mass Destruction are Greed, Anger and a Deluded Mind - Find them and Destroy them Now!

:jumping:
My recently moved Blog, containing some of my writings on the Buddha Dhamma, as well as a number of translations from classical Buddhist texts and modern authors, liturgy, etc.: Huifeng's Prajnacara Blog.

Thanks, mate,
I dunno about the first and third, but the second category of WMD's must be anti-metta bombs.

If I may say so, I am of a somewhat anti-Theravadin mindset. But it has not occurred to me, even in my wildest raving foaming rants, to label Theravadins as terrorists. So even yer Loyal Opposition is wondering, what's WRONG with this guy??

Also, was that music? It seemed to have some music-like characteristics... :jumping:

Yikes I gave it a listen again - this time with the headphones on my head instead of on the desk.

Now, I think I did hear worse music once. It was Leonard Nimoy singing a song about Bilbo Baggins on a Star Trek record. But actually, I think I'd rather listen to Leonard for the comedy value.

If this site is indicative of the state of Australian Buddhism, look, the thing is dead, just bury it and walk away.

Well the music won't play on my phone's browser, but just reading that sentence I'm not sure if the website author intended to suggest that Theravadins are akin to terrorists... maybe it was a [poor] attempt at a joke?

Haha! What mayhem I have created!

To be honest, my PC's sound system is usually set to mute, so I had no idea that there was anything like that.
I was just cracking up about the line "Buddhism does not have terrorists but it does have Theravadins."

Indeed. I wonder how old it is.
I wonder why it's so far behind this one - http://www.buddhistcouncil.org/
I wonder whether it is just a fossil.

Okay, that's three wonders of the modern world created in just five minutes
I'll get back to what I ought to have been doing all along.

Hi Catmoon, I'd echo what Mawkish said - I think the connection between Theravadins and Terrorists was just a light hearted joke.

You may like to read his CV at his blog:

I believe Graeme Lyall has been very active to propagate the Buddhadhamma in Australia in the past 50 years.
