What New Year Resolutions have you started?

Hello all,

I've started walking again ~ did 5 km. this afternoon, after the worst of the heat had gone.
Trying to mix meditation in with it ~ awareness of pressure on the sole of the foot with each step, and also doing Metta meditation during the walk.

Greetings Chris,

Well done.

I've resolved to try a bit harder with my Dhamma practice. For personal reasons it slipped off a bit in the last half of '09 and I'd like to get it back on track. My Dhamma friends at Dhamma Wheel are a big inspiration for me to get back on track.

The Dhamma is cool. 8-)

Well, this year I made the first and probably only new years resolution I will ever keep.

It was to NOT make any more new year resolutions ...

Mine, not resolutions as such, are a return to vegetarianism and regular exercise via the local aquatic centre.
And yes, keeping my Dhamma practice on track and regular is something that requires constant effort.

I've resolved on practicing vegetarianism. In terms specifically about the Dhamma: continue daily meditation (and daily practice overall), read the sutta pitika down to the sutta nipata.

There are others but I'll spare you the long list of all my failings :tongue:

I have made some resolutions, including: meditating at least 45 minutes, studying at least 1 sutta per day and going on at least 1 9-day retreat (which I have booked now for April). It will be my first 9-day retreat, any advice?
Four types of letting go:

1) Giving; expecting nothing back in return
2) Throwing things away
3) Contentment; wanting to be here, not wanting to be anywhere else
4) "Teflon Mind"; having a mind which doesn't accumulate things

I've resolved to practice meditation more and try to go from simply getting relaxation to maybe some insight. Also, I plan to read more and not come here and try to make others do my research for me.
Meaning, less questions and more study. Since I am just a beginner I may not be able to practice insight at first, but I can at least apply morality, concentration and wisdom in my normal daily life.
A good place to start???
