Absolutely amazing! I only wish I had the good kamma of being born in a Buddhist country like Thailand.

:anjali:
“What should be done for his disciples out of compassion by a teacher who seeks their welfare and has compassion for them, that I have done for you, bhikkhus. There are these roots of trees, these empty huts. Meditate, bhikkhus, do not delay or else you will regret it later. This is our instruction to you.” - MN 19

Lots of Buddha statues in there. Beautiful, the one posted here and those in the wikipedia link.

Which one is this one in Thailand? How many feet high?

I notice the wikipedia link did not have the 80 foot Buddha in Bodh Gaya.

Greetings,

That would have to be one of the biggest noses in the world.

It reminded me of Bill Lawry

I'll be in Ang Thong in April. It's on our list... At almost three times the size of the Tian Tan Buddha in Hong Kong it must be rather stunning. Though the Hong Kong one does have the advantage of being on a hill... Not many hills in Ang Thong...

Greetings,

Discussion on the pros and cons of Giant Buddha Rupas had been moved into the Theravada For The Modern World forum...

Giant Buddha Rupas - Pros and Cons
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3739

Please use that topic for any discussion about the use of dana for the construction of giant Buddha statues.

Every time I start feeling petty, self pity, anger and all that yadayada...I will make it a point to contemplate on this image...simply breathtaking :buddha1:
(My gratitude to the OP for the pics, especially this one...will print and frame it  )
Bhikkhus, if you develop and make much this one thing,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.
What is it? It is recollecting the Enlightened One.
If this single thing is recollected and made much,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.
