Books on the Brahmaviharas?

Post by DorjePhurba »

I'm interesting in learning about and practicing the brahmaviharas. Can anyone recommend any good books on the subject?

Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

There is also a PDF version:

Sharon Salzberg's book Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness is also useful.

In terms of practicing, Sharon Salzberg's Loving-kindness is very accessible. She lays out the instructions pretty simply and clearly. I liked Alan Wallace's The Four Immeasurables for a further discussion of them.
