A CHANCE TO BUILD A MONASTERY-Retreat between May 1-Oct 8

Post by sisterkhema »

Here is a delightful chance to lend a hand building a monastery in the forest with Most Ven. Bhante Vimalaramsi. You set up how long you will come in to help and you attend Dhamma talks in the evenings, practice meditation in session and while working. 4 days minimum time requested to help you the most with meditation practice. This is a chance to learn more about Buddhism and how the Buddha was training monks to be observers of how mind's attention moves! How can Dependent Origination help you in daily life interactions? Is there a way to learn about D.O. that is in the suttas but no longer being taught? What was the meditation for in daily life?
Retreats offered at Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center in Missouri are set up as personal retreats. no more than 15-20 people will ever be in the center at one time. You give a check-in interview every day with the teacher and you REALLY learn how to make progress in your practice and how to stay on track! There is good access to the teachers at the center and you can ALWAYS come with a question to keep you on track.
The practice uses the Breath or METTA as the object of meditation and you learn very clearly from the Sutta Dhamma talks what the goal of the meditation was in the Buddha's time and how you can progress down the same developmental path the monks did in the beginning.
It's been exciting for many traditional Buddhists to hear this teacher give talks that are precise, clear, easy to understand. Your understanding and application of the Buddhist Meditation will take great leaps forward.

Please contact us if interested in helping with the Forest center development and come in for a week or two. This center is being developed for your future growth in Buddhism. It is a chance to tweak your practice and uncover things you never thought possible. It clears up a lot of misunderstanding about what the Meditation practice was all about.
