To study is to know the texts,
To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.

I'm thinking of getting a book of Gethin's -- either Foundations of Buddhism, or The Buddhist Path to Awakening. Can someone describe the differences between the two? Thanks!

The Foundations of Buddhism is an excellent read and I highly recommend it. Great overview.

He also has another book: an anthology of translations of important suttas called Sayings of the Buddha. I haven't read it yet but I think it's always good to read different translations, especially from someone as exceedingly competent as Gethin.
