This is probably as good a time as any to point out a few of the bands in this countdown are quite obscure and not particularly well known. Many of these bands never actually had any "film clips". Therefore what I can find of them on Youtube may well be limited, and the couple of tracks I find may not actually be amongst their best recordings... this is the case with Barcelona. Anyway, these two should be enough to get the idea.

Which I imagine is precisely why his remix of Studio Hair Gel is on Youtube, rather than the far superior original version. James Figurine was also in a band Figurine who probably would have made the Retro Rockers list if it extended to 101 bands. They were a very good synth band, I think also on the same label as Barcelona (hence the remix).

Greetings Aloka,
In a sense, that's why this list exists. It's not that I've gone and picked 100 bands no one's heard of... these really are my favourite 100 bands and singers. The reality is though, that most people have not heard of most of them. Should anyone wish to explore some good music they've not heard before, I suppose I'm giving people an interesting challenge.
It was actually this interest in letting people access different kinds of quality, non-mainstream music that led me to be a DJ for a few years around the turn of the century.
