Brown rice would obviously be better.

One last point: it is likely that if veggies taste bland you may be consuming too much sugar. Get off the sugar, and you may find a new world of taste.

Yes, but many new cooks I have known find brown rice intimidating, and white rice also meets Individual's time requirement. :)

You can replace the rice with steamed broccoli. Easy, fast, and by no means difficult to prepare.
