Re: Risk of taking vaccine jab

I've just had my first, too - yesterday, in fact. A-Z, because that's what was on offer and the extra risk (compared to Pfizer) is really very low. The nurse who did it reckoned that most people got some nausea-lethargy-headaches in the first day or two but that younger people (in their 30s and 40s)...

Re: Jesus is the Only Way?

Christians accept the afterlife hence right view And the Christian afterlife is eternalism, which is explicitly wrong view. more right than atheism which is often the only issue But atheism is annihilationism, which is also explicitly wrong view. Just as wrong as eternalism, in fact. 2 + 2 = 3 is w...

Re: Vatican urges Buddhists, Christians to a culture of care and solidarity

The Vatican? Yes, the Vatican that is heading an organization where child molestation has tradition is the authority to urge others to a culture of care and solidarity ... or so the OP thinks or the OP thinks what this Vatican says if worthy to be posted ... Sadly, sexual abuse app...

Re: Vesak

I'm going to the city communal Vesak, all the temples are coming together to have a big one, the Tibetans, Sri Lankans, Thai, Vietnamese, and some Cambodians, all in one big celebration. And the venue is in a Christian church hall! I like it! We sometimes use Christian meeting rooms here bu...

Re: Letting the breath breathe itself

Generally speaking, I tend to be someone who tries to keep things under control, mainly due to fear. Today I had an experience in the practice in which I realized that I also tend to control the breath. ... This sort of thing is quite common, I think. We are told to "observe the breath", not to con...

Re: Religious/Philosophy Education

Hi, Is Religion/ Philosophy taught in public schools in your country? If so, what is covered and how is it tested in standardised tests? I know schools in the UK study the Good News Bible. I'll be especially interested if you are from a Buddhist country. I come from a Muslim-majority country. Musli...

Re: Risk of taking vaccine jab

Hi, asahi,
If I posted the stories of all the millions of people who have been vaccinated and had no adverse reactions it would be very boring and fill at least 5000 pages of this topic.

Imagine it done.
Now see how little your videos mean.

Re: Risk of taking vaccine jab

The risk of the jab is so much smaller than the risk of the illness that you should have the vaccination, if possible, whether you are a Buddhist or not.
How much smaller? Perhaps a thousand times smaller.

Re: Buddha quotes site

Truth is where you find it. If this site gives good paraphrases of Buddha's ideas or language, that is good. Any teaching that is or points toward the Dharma is meritorious and not a time waster; especially for those who know zero about the Dharma. It might in some ways be useful, in that living yo...

eternalism is the idea… that we are the same

the same as we ever were

which I think people assume
I'm a good enough Buddhist not to assume that at all.

Re: Theosophy

Okay ... same question re Mabel Collins, "a writer of popular occult novels, a fashion writer and an anti-vivisection campaigner. She was a theosophist and author of over 46 books," according to her blurb on Amazon. Do we know enough about her thought to know whether what she meant was eternalism o...

Re: Theosophy

:juggling: That would seem to depend very much on how one conceptualises "person" and "soul". Do we know enough about Blavatsky's thought to know whether what she meant was eternalism or not? :coffee: Kim Not everything theosophical was written by HPB.
