Re: Antibacterial gel can cure

Treating tick bites and rusty nail wounds with antibacterial gel and piss is a great way to get lyme disease and tetanus. The body tends to have its own strong responses called the immune systm, which you are misunderstanding as the result of your "treatment". You may have gotten serious i...

Re: Eternity

Somewhere I heard a Q&A by Thannisaro Bhikkhu where his answer to such a query was along the lines of "the question doesn't apply"-- eternal is a fabrication, nibbana is the end of fabrications, therefore nibbana is nibbana.

Obviously not absolutely everything is in the suttas. Therefore you have to decide what is in line with what is in the suttas.

Its likely you are going the opposite direction of sotapanna. Find an in person teacher to help you get back on track.

Re: Was the New Testament copied from Buddhist scriptures?

No, I highly doubt it. Many religions have some things in common, even religions we know had zero knowledge of each other. Just means humans can have similar ideas about psycho-spiritual themes which isn't surprising.

Re: Is it possible for me become a monk if I have schizophrenia?

Most likely you would not be able to ordain in this lifetime. Even if you were on medication and under a doctors care, you may not be able to ensure you could continue to get that after you are ordained. That's ok though, you can focus on generosity during this lifetime.

Re: The karma of displaying powers

You don't think that healing the lame, giving sight to the blind, has good karma? As far as I know, these are not magical powers that are described in the pali canon (as a power one can bestow upon another). So the of kamma question is moot. This is from the Bible or another Abrahamic faith. Anyone...

Re: Is it true that Maha Boowa was a smoker ?

Betel nut, tobacco, and cigarette smoking wasn't uncommon among TFT monks, and still isn't unheard of. A couple times a year someone posts something like this on here and is outraged that their expectations of an enlightened being isn't met because such and so smokes or chews betel nut.

Your ancestry doesn't matter. How it sounds when you chant doesn't matter. Your practice and whether it helps it is what matters.

Religion in the western conception is a belief contest. Buddha Dhamma is a system of education.
