Re: Retrofuturist's Brief Sutta-Based Refutation of Abhidhamma

Theravada is a trendy name here even in this Abhidhamma refutation thread :woohoo:

We here in may represent aggregates; the same is true ...

A great poem it must be, because, like many other poems, I can't make heads or tails of it. :jumping:

Re: Reality

What is reality? Depends, upon perspectives. Coventional/ultimate, Four Realities of the Nobles etc. External [to one's mind] things cannot be discarded as not being part of the reality in that they would come into play as part of experiential reality when necessary conditions arise. When limited t...

Re: What was Gotama previous life attaintment ?

And i guess this is not found in the suttas stating them attaining arya state in unbroken continuous succession. The episode is described briefly in the Vinaya Cūḷavagga: Atha kho āyasmā Ānando — sve sannipāton na kho metaṃ patirūpaṃ, yohaṃ sekkho samāno sannipātaṃ gaccheyyanti — bahudeva rattiṃ kā...

Re: Ajahn Brahm on why he was excommunicated

If that is the case that the Venerable said manfully: "he is not a Thervadist or Mhayanist," I have much more respects to him than to those schismatic trojans staying under the name of Theravada and trying to attack & distort Theravada itself. That is what he says, but he pretends to like a Therava...

Re: Ajahn Brahm on why he was excommunicated

It seems, this was a major road block to attain Arahantship. I hope now we all can speed up the path without adding another division. This whole thing is disturbing me. :( I watched a video, that Ajahn Brahm said that he is not a Thervadist or Mhayanist ! Re: Sam Vara returns as a moderator

Greetings SDA, The blue "founding member" designation applies to former staff members who were pivotal in the early days of the forum, and who helped get the forum up and running. Not all founding members want the formal designation, so they can opt out of this recognition if they so choose. No "bl...

btw, may I know what the blue color means for Mike & SDC, & Khalil Bodhi . I think, Mike is a staff member but SDC is not anymore (although recently conducting the study group). They are in blue while Admins are red, and Global Mods are green.

Re: How do you imagine beings of other realms?

How do you imagine beings of other realms? I don't imagine beings of other realms. I regard them as mental states. The rich iconography of the Wheel of Life can be interpreted on several levels. The six major sections represent the Six Realms. These realms can be understood as forms of existence, o...
