Re: Best Evidence for Afterlife - BICS ESSAY COMPETITION - $ 500,000 Prize

Scientific Works on Life After Death! Looks like you forgot for the 2nd time why you were wrong about the importance of this. Should we go through it for the 3rd time? What? Tell about your beliefs on the matter of " Life After Death". I swear I will read what you write but I canno...

Re: Ended is birth vs No answer...

... Am I missing something here? See, you are on the verge of losing your life through admitting to a philosophy without any evidence. You can commit to buddhism but you will only spend time on reading and practicing without getting any closer to permanent peace, peace independent of thoughts and p...

Re: Ended is birth vs No answer...

Don't know. My understanding of nibbana is cessation of suffering which doesn't appear to match your understanding. Well, in my understanding, the ending of suffering is deeply connected to the ending of clinging, I making, craving, etc. Clinging is part of the definition of the first noble truth, ...

Re: Ended is birth vs No answer...

Ceisiwr, you may die right now and the other users may notice the following days "Oh, why has Ceisiwr posted not anything already for 2 days?" But considering the world of buddhists, if you die right now, nobody will care. Why? Because most buddhist do not join internet forums. Not joining...

Re: Ended is birth vs No answer...

tweaks are needed to make the literalist view workable (like splitting reality in two The two truths are there in the suttas. Momentariness too, but I suppose we would be getting caught up in too many topics there. I suppose you are getting caught up in too many topics. Ceisiwr, have you ever consi...

Re: Ended is birth vs No answer...

My understanding is that once once a person attains nibbana, there is no longer any I-making, no longer any conceptualization, no clinging. In that way, this person no longer supposes this or that, has this view or that view in regards to life after death. He is no longer identifiable by any of the...

Re: Nibbāna - The Ultimate Truth

Nevertheless ... I think that if you ever attain the state of a sotapanna (as understood in buddhism) you are already freed of buddhism. And I think that sotapanna state is really desireable concerning all religions and spiritual goals.

Re: Nibbāna - The Ultimate Truth

I think that "nibbana" has a deceptive nature merely through being the object of believer's debates. Thus I think that the basis of buddhism is ill-founded because it is based on mere arbitrary utterance. By this very reasoning, your statement is also deceptive. Sure. Nothing uttered by a...

Re: Nibbāna - The Ultimate Truth

MN 140 is one of my favourite suttas, as it contains some of the most beautiful phrases in the whole canon. I've always particularly liked this “His deliverance, being founded upon truth, is unshakeable. For that is false, bhikkhu, which has a deceptive nature, and that is true which has an undecep...
