Re: Tasawwuf and Theravada

Guys.I am not arguing for Christianity anymore .the doctrine of the trinity as outlined by the councils is incoherent.trinities.org has alot of logical arguments against this.the doctrine of the hypostatic union is impossible.jesus cannot be fully divine and fully man at the same time,as these two ...

Re: All religions started off as philosphy

My interest in philosophies and religions is their psychological effects. I am also interested in this - it is almost a sub-discipline of anthropology of religion. You have read william james and evans pritchard ? I don't know these persons. I am not doing systematic studies. It's more kind of deta...

Re: different class in western world

The UK and every country in earth is divided into classes. The ruling class and the working class. There are variations on these. But they are all based on money, power, weaponry and position. All the general ideology comes from the ruling class, which is one reason we have the chattering mind! Buddha...

Re: Buddhism and Capitalism.

Personally speaking I find buddhism and in fact any true spirituality to be diametrically opposed to any sort of capitalism. Capitalism extols consumption and the profit motive,AKA Greed. Whilst buddhism rejects greed and Instead focuses on true happiness. Why are many buddhists still in favour of ...

Re: Mysticism in buddhism?

May I know the definition of mystic/mysticism used in this topic? See the conventional understanding here . It seems to be a general problem - especially in this section of the forum - that users start threads using private concepts. Then other users join using their own private concepts. That's hi...

Re: "Methodless Method" includes methods; 'Just sit' is not literal just sit

Begs the question why choose Theravada over Soto Zen then? Begs the question why choose Soto Zen for just sitting? To be short and to the point I can't get passed the Mahayana sutras. I don't believe they are the words of the Buddha. :?: your words seem to be mis-addressed. i really meant (ad...

Re: Buddhism and Hinduism on Atman.

I'm not buddhist. Try reading a little carefully. Less assumptions. Try to think what my OP is getting at. Ask a question o assumptive one! Of course "you are" neither this nor that but buddhist conditioning manifests itself nevertheless when associating "escape from". Your OP is getting at nothing...

Lol! And you mister miracle have escaped this conditioning or reduced it to a scaffold! Bravo! Nothing can be escaped from, there is nothing to be escaped from, conditioning just goes on. "Escape" from this or that is just a conditioned buddhist obsession. I'm not buddhist. Try reading a little car...

Re: Buddhism and Hinduism on Atman.

The thing that unites buddhism and hinduism is Meditation as the tool for liberation. With this in mind, why do YOU think Hindu meditators come up with atman, and modern buddhists with anatman? A curious state of affairs. Fabrication does not stop before death and is nutured by tradition and culture....
