Re: Is it appropriate (relevant) to teach the Dhamma to laypeople which are mainly meant for Buddhist Monks?
I think the problem is some certain lay people have unrealistic expectations about what they can achieve with Buddhism :goodpost: Very true DD, ....and there are even some people who thing they're enlightened after doing a few minutes of meditation occasionally and then hanging around internet grou...

Re: Is it appropriate (relevant) to teach the Dhamma to laypeople which are mainly meant for Buddhist Monks?
PS My point here is not to smear Buddhism or Theravada, a form I love, am devoted to and feel profoundly grateful for -- I will always bow down before the wisdom of The Buddha. However -- my point is simply to say, that Monks are just human beings -- no more no less, and are just as prone to flight...

Re: Can i use sexual fantasy daydream for induce tranquality?
People say strange things on this forum. I know this thing I want to do is wrong, but maybe they will give me permission to do it anyway. And it is a a Buddhist forum. At least PayPal some money to your favorite Dhamma group and recite 108 Suttas. You have to see clearly why something is wrong or i...

Re: Can i use sexual fantasy daydream for induce tranquality?
The problem is not with the inherent existence of it, the problem is with the drawbacks of performing such an action. Hi there! Yes, understanding the lack of inherent existence in sensual pleasures helps us resist the temptation and see the drawbacks of performing such actions. Our minds must see ...

Re: Can i use sexual fantasy daydream for induce tranquality?
Instead of doing sexual things, imagine taking off the skin from the body, take out each organ, then taking off the flesh, only the bones remain. Now again add the flesh to the bones, add each organ, then add the skin again. Yes, absolutely! Sexual desire and the body are empty of inherent existenc...

am I allowed to ordain if I emit semen unintentionally? I dont want to get bad name .. these days semen coming when I see something lustful even if I dont touch it using hand .. Lust is the main thing holding me back from being a monk. I have been celibate for years, but I still have lustful though...

Re: How can Dependant Origination be established?
How does that apply to dhammas being empty of inherent existence? I would be interested to hear how you arrived at that position, since it isn’t clear that the one is deductible from the other? Also, do you have a sutta reference to back that up? I'd have to do some research to find appropriate mat...

Re: How can Dependant Origination be established?
emptiness of self is not the teaching emptiness of the aggregates is the teaching which is slightly different, but significant In Theravada, yes, the emptiness of the aggregates is best. I have informally studied a lot of emptiness teachings from Mahayana teachers. I don't see where there is any di...

Re: How can Dependant Origination be established?
Emptiness originally meant empty of self and what belongs to a self, not empty of “inherent existence”. Hi there! Nice to meet you. Emptiness of self would mean the self is empty of inherent existence. All things are empty of inherent existence. Even emptiness is empty. Theravada does not refute th...

Re: How can Dependant Origination be established?
Understanding emptiness, which is what Dependent Origination essentially is, is less discussed in Theravada Buddhism than it is in the Mahayana traditions (Tibetan, Zen, etc.). In Theravada, these topics are for more advanced practitioners. I believe that Theravada could do a better job explaining e...
