Re: Is there any proof of reincarnation? I find it hard to believe in it.

We can return as animals, too. It's complicated, like everything in life. There is a very strange story (or is it strange?) of a very young boy who remembers dying as an adult at the World Trade Center in 2001. His parents couldn't believe what he was saying. You can research online. I think it's pr...

How old are your parents? Are they in good health? Do they need your help for some particular reason?

Aren't you still wanting to become a monk at some point? Do your parents know this?

Re: Death and destinations

This is fascinating: A story of a monk who married the same woman for 27 lifetimes made me realize that, even if we end up meeting our loved ones again in the next life, it all ends in "Dukkha"(suffering)...

That really drives home a profound message to the world.

Re: Death and destinations

Attachment is suffering. When you miss someone who has passed away, you are missing them because of your attachment to them. However, there is still compassion, so you can wish them well and still mourn them for some time, but dwelling on it, will only cause further suffering. That is the Buddha's ...

Re: Why hasn't anyone achieved enlightenment ?

Why hasn't anyone achieved the exact same state of spiritual enlightenment as the historical Buddha, despite more than 2500 years having passed since his attainment? Maybe there are some arahants in the world? But I personally doubt so also. Remember during the time-period when the teacher arahant ...

Re: Why hasn't anyone achieved enlightenment ?

Dipa Ma is said to have had supernatural abilities. I'm not saying one way or another, as I never met her, but those around her say that they witnessed them. Dipa Ma was enlightened for sure. She may have possessed supernatural abilities. It's hard to say, but there are, as you say, many witnesses ...

One of the amazing things about Dhamma Wheel is that you can discuss and call into question Buddhist teachings, etc. There is no proper sectarianism going on. Regular participants on this forum don't even need to be Buddhist. While some on here may think they have all the truth, just remember they a...

We ourselves are not exempt from mental illness and psychological problems.
The way I see you have to be at least a Sotapanna to say that you have eliminated some mental illness.
I agree 100%
