Re: Transmitting wrong dhamma is slandering

In the context of AN 2.23 and similar suttas, "slandering" is just a klutzy translation by Ajahn Thanissaro, along with several others who put too much trust in the PTS dictionary and don't consult other sources. The verb abbhācikkhati *can* mean to calumniate or accuse, but it also means to misrep...

Re: White clad followers

Celibate and enjoying pleasures using other sences are same? I think thats just how they referred to sex in ancient Pali. Like the third precept literally talks about immoral "sensual" (kame) pleasures and not sexual specifically even though its widely recognized as meaning such. If third precept i...

Transmitting wrong dhamma is slandering

What constitute the action as slandering ?
Transmitting wrong dhamma appear to be guiding others to wrong path therefore is slandering ? Doubt and disbelieve in Buddha Dhamma Sangha can be regarded as slandering ?

Re: Does anyone know where the thing I read is from + Help explain the Asura & Deva war

If not mistaken . There are 3 lower realms asura . Human asura . Deva asura .
Those constantly wrapping in angers are asura . The deva are not without conceit and hatred .

Re: What are the contradictions in Buddha's teaching?

As it seems very rare or almost none can be found that someone in leadership admit their fault or flaw . Do you think Buddha himself are Perfect without ever making error , although the meaning of Perfected in buddhism appears different ? One of the marks of a good leader is that they are happy to a...

Re: Buying alive fishes to leave them in the river.

Here are the questions we can ask : Say you are a vegan and if goes to the market to buy some vegetables , and you found that everyday they would slaughter the live fishes irrespect of whether you buy or not buy from them . So once a while you buy some of those fishes in waiting list to be chopped u...

Re: 📍 Dhātuvibhaṅgasutta MN 140 (Week of May 9, 2021)

There are descriptions of the five aggregates, six sense base, three as form/formless/cessation, seven as light/beauty/dimension of infinite space/dimension of infinite consciousness/nothingness/dimension of neither perception nor non-perception/cessation of perception and feeling, and nibbana , al...

Re: Buying alive fishes to leave them in the river.

For the Buddha, love and compassion were incomplete if they were not extended to all sentient beings. He said that if a monk found an animal in a trap and out of compassion set it free, he would not be guilty of theft, even if conventional opinion considered the animal to be the property of the hun...

Re: Risk of taking vaccine jab

.... Hi, asahi, If I posted the stories of all the millions of people who have been vaccinated and had no adverse reactions it would be very boring and fill at least 5000 pages of this topic. Imagine it done. Now see how little your videos mean. :namaste: Kim No worries man , it is your ...

Re: Are the Jhānas the Buddha learned from his teachers before enlightenment the same as the ones he taught after it?

Imo the jhanas the Buddha learned from other ascetics are the same as He taught to His disciples , but , i would think the samadhi quality are differents when they couple it with the 7 foe ie the n8efp . However , it is unnecessary to practice formless jhana just to attain nibbana where Buddha proba...

Re: What are the contradictions in Buddha's teaching?

To my knowledge Buddhists normally wont discuss things that would undermine the Buddha's teachings . I asked question of formless realms prior to this but your question are far deeper . :D Maybe you will get lucky peoples wont say something like this in reaction to your question , such as , this is ...
