Re: Buying alive fishes to leave them in the river.

Hello, I use to buy alive fishes and leave them in a river near a temple where catching fish is not allowed. But I heard and thought about it, they say if you buy 10 fishes, 10 extra which wouldn't have been eaten would die, because no matter how much I buy, the consumption remain the same, and the...

I don't know the history of Coëmgenu insulting DD... but I'm guessing it wasn't one sided 🤣 It's a bit transparent to insult someone and then put in parentheses 'no offence intended'. I wasn't insulting someone, I was making an observation and no offence was intended ...but perhaps you imagin...

Re: Jhānā

I could make a list of not absurd Theravādin Venerables who favoured the translation "trance" for jhāna, but what would be the point? My interlocutor "knows" that they and/or their translation choices are absurd and that he is not ignorant here. The point would be that you had provided evidence for...

Re: Persons of the Path and the Paramis

All my Theravada experience is from books, but I have been reading Buddhism since starting in 1989. The only groups I have connected with have been Mahayana, including the one Zen group. I liked the Zen one best when they still spent a lot of time meditating. So perhaps I should have just said that...

Re: Persons of the Path and the Paramis

Are particular paramis associated with particular persons of the path (i.e. stream-entrant candidate, stream-entrant, once-returner, etc. up to Arhat) in Theravada? Is a particular parami associated with stream-entry in Theravada, for instance, or is a particular one associated with arahatta? Perha...

My view is this:

If vipassana meditation is practiced to induce insight, then the next logical step after seeing three marks is to abandon all phenomena, stepwise, via jhana.
Could you explain the format of this in more detail, please?

Re: Mental Fog

Maybe try doing some walking meditation every day in an oudoor area which is spacious. There are a couple of pages "On Walking Meditation" at the end of Ajahn Amaro's little book "Finding the Missing Peace" which you might find useful. https://cdn.amaravati.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/12/Finding_...

Fake, schmake! Cannot recall the sutta passage but somewhere Buddha gave some general facets of the Dhamma diamond and they had more to do with the content, not the source. No, that's incorrect.. I think you need to carefully research transgender issues with an open mind .
