Re: The best way to introduce the dhamma
If things are conditionally arise, then the question is not "best way" but "best condition" for one to look for dhamma instead of we are trying to introduce to them. The condition could be encountering, facing, seeing dukkha. In my opinion, just simply open them up to original te...

Re: Beginning with a disrespect towards commentaries
Beginning with something wrong isn't means we end up wrong. Thus the more worrying part is we ending up wrong. WE all started at some point of time, not knowing what is right, what is wrong, confuse with what is true and what is false. However, I believe someone come across true Buddha teaching beca...

The master is from China and his teachings are a mixed of Mahayana and Traditional Chinese Teachings (such as Confucian and Chinese Traditions). Re: Buying alive fishes to leave them in the river.
There are few perspectives to look at your question. In my opinion: If you wish to help life (fish in this case) in an ultimate way. Probably I would say we should help ourselves first (we are also life that currently suffering in samsara), then help others if you can, to free from samsara. Any bein...

Re: Is there any point in meditating for unsecluded laypeople?
I am a layperson like you, wish I can offer you some ideas... Is it only in seclusion that is valid to sit in meditation? Does seclusion mean a cave in the mountains or is it just about closing your bedroom's door at home? Seclusion to me means quiet place, I meditate in a room. During meditation, I...

Re: Theravāda, Anatta, and Mindstreams
Well done in feeling closer to anatta compared to a year ago, you made progress! Only Arahant accepted anatta, as he experienced and seeing it by himself. What we discuss here is booked knowledge on anatta. If you see 5 aggregates - body as described by Buddha as foam, then this continuous foam form...

Re: Do i decides what i Will do with my eyeblinks?
From Buddha teaching, all things happened are conditionally arisen, all things cease are also conditionally cease. This is the case, then eyeblink is also conditionally arises, not because you have an "I", not because of "your eyes" e.g. eyeblink may due to dust (condition arises...

Re: Is meditation the only way to reach englightenment?
In my opinion - NO
Why?
Buddha teaches us Noble 8 Folded Path (N8FP), mediation is a means to cultivate concentration, concentration is one of the N8FP. To enlighten we need ALL 8, not only meditation.

First, during Buddha time there was no Buddha statue. Also, after Buddha passed away, no Buddha statue. Until much later years (few hundred years later), statue started. So, to pay respect to Buddha is for appreciating his teaching to us, and to me a gratitude towards him, for his teaching, for his ...
