Re: A feeling that isn’t a feeling
Yes indeed. Vedana is the nervous system. The 5 senses. It connects the mental with the physical. I think in 3rd jhana they start to realize the sukha is an illusion.

Re: Stream entry by simply listening to the dhamma: possible?
This is plain wrong. When Buddha taught topics such as aggregates and elements, that belong to the realm of Abhidhamma. Furthermore, the presence of Abhidhamma is already well proved in Suttanta Pitaka. And to the PO, simply listening to Dhamma won't help to achieve Sotapanna. Wow you're plainly wr...

Re: Contradiction 1- Viññāṇa Means Consciousness?
Is avija the opposite of mindfulness? Some people are ignorant that meta is giving and caring. Not cowardice and running away from the suffering of the world. Some people are ignorant and apathetic and fake.

Re: Poll: Dhamma-niyama is...?
It’s not annihilation, no. How? The mind is irrelevant in 2nd jhana because you're omniscient. I don't even know what's going on in 3rd jhana to make joy irrelevant. Even stranger happiness is irrelevant in 4th jhana. And then you physical body is irrelevant. And then limit is irrelevant. And then ...

Re: Poll: Dhamma-niyama is...?
A condition is something that relies upon another for it's existence. Since it relies upon another, it cannot be self-existent. Since it is not self-existent, it cannot be permanent. Not being permanent, it has to be impermanent. Since this is a matter of logic, it's always true. Since all conditio...

wenjaforever wrote Dhamma niyama > 4th arupa jhana Can you bring the sutta that says Dhamma Niyama has anything to with 4th Arupa jhana? Regards :candle: Can you show a sutta where avici is ever mentioned? 4th arupa beings are not eternal but they will die for the last time. They're non returners. ...

Re: Poll: Dhamma-niyama is...?
There are no parallel universes in the suttas. Parallel universes and time travel is a wrong view.

Re: Poll: Dhamma-niyama is...?
If a paradox could reach nibbana, what would happen to it? There are 4 kind of perception:
• normal perception: kamma realm, heaven and hell
• advanced perception: jhana
• infinite perception: the 2 lower arupa
• the perception of nothingness: 3rd arupa

Re: Four Out of Five Māras are Metaphorical, and Eight Out of Ten Cats Agree
Forgive me, but I take the middle way. The 2 extremes of wrong view about Mara is that he either doesn't exist at all, or that he's so overtly powerful to even exert influence in arupa. When not even Maha Brahma, the conqueror, the lord of the 1000 fold worlds, knows anything about 2nd jhana.

Re: Should everyone’s goal be enlightenment in this lifetime?
What you said is true. This led me to think, in future human will be more and more deviated from righteous lifestyle... And Dhamma disappearing... Wars and diseases... For me, I think I will practising the seven vows as stated in Mahali Sutta, while working on Dana, Sila, and Bhavana as layman upas...

Re: Explain Namarupa
The hierarchy of realms are very consistent. This is evident in Kevatta Sutta. When the monk asked sakka about the 4 elemental stuff, sakka replied: I don't know, but the Yama devas might know, they're more sublime than me. Mara is inferior to vasavatti, and vasavatti is inferior to a Brahma retinue...

Re: Should everyone’s goal be enlightenment in this lifetime?
The human realm has the most potential. The most opportunities. The most volatile. It can make you soar into the Brahma realm, or into hell. It's like walking on a thin line.
