Re: Taking and putting the Dhamma into what ever common domain is a grave wrong-doing
If it is meant that the dhamma should not be taught to lay people then I think it is not so. The Buddha and the monks taught the lay people as well. Monastic comes from lay people. A good example is Suppabuddha the leper who joined a gathering because he thought that it may be a food distribution bu...

Re: I wish I told my father i hate him before he died
I have a similar friend as you. He hates his father and e.g. blames his father because he (not his father) could not buy a flat in the capital when he was young. He blames other fathers as well for similarly nonsense reasons. And he finds his way to hate others for other reasons... I cannot tell him...

Re: i have a craving for a woman at the gym
If you are "strong". I would say look at her carefully and you would recognize how repulsive she is if you see her body as it really is. But I am afraid this would lead you in the wrong direction. From the post, not knowing you well enough, I would say better not to look at her. If it is n...

What is the karmic consequence of killing your own baby? Where the majority of women in the west are heading?
If I know well, the first precept "There is the case where a disciple of the noble ones, abandoning the taking of life, abstains from taking life." includes the unborn babies as well. In the world today the unborn babies are killed on a mass scale. E.g. in the USA about a million babies ar...

Correct pronunciation of 'y'
I am not really sure about how 'y' is pronounced. I hear in some cases that an 'i' sound is pronounced before it. E.g. in "vākya" instead of saying v-ā-k-j-a it is said as v-ā-k-i-j-a. So insted of just saying 'j' as it is in e.g. yes. In a lot of cases a plus i, like it is pronounced in t...

Re: Can you work off anantarika karma?
This is not really a direct answer to the question but maybe it adds some useful insights to it. Moggallāna killed his parents in one of his previous lives. He married a wicked wife who suggested to kill Moggallāna's parents. For his act he suffered in hell (in the translation below, niraya) for a l...

Re: Why is Pali deemed a 'special' language?
Hi Patta.1999 I understand the cult around the Pali language, it's similar to the Tibetan worship on mantras. It's just a language. It's not special, it's not mystical, the Buddha didn't speak it and abandoned babies don't grow up magically speaking in Pali . I think you've forgotten that this is t...

Re: i have fallen for someone who seems emotionally unavailable
This was pretty shocking to be read on a site like DW. From the post it seems that you are diving in the very depths of the samsara. It is really a task to get out from that depth. You are hunting for sensual pleasures which are not just painful in reality but they drag you down - deeper and deeper...

Re: Why is Pali deemed a 'special' language?
Now you're just making stuff up 😅 Few questions... When did Pali appear? Are you actually saying that the Buddha spoke and taught in Pali? Did the Buddha urge his followers to teach in local dialects? Gomrich thinks it possible that the Buddha spoke and taught in Pali. He also thinks Pali was somet...

Re: Can I as an unintelligent person attain stream entry?
:namaste: I work with the ones who are considered as the most intelligent ones, based on the standards of the "modern" part of the world. But I can tell you that I hardly know a handful of really intelligent ones. Those who see reality or somehow they are close to it. Almost all of us bel...
