Re: Emptiness of Buddhist currents
Emptiness has nothing to doneith ezternal object or internal organs. It has to do with expereince as it is experience that gives you information. If you see a apple, there is conciousness process of seeing apple. If you use VR, then apple look like orange. So even if younsee apple, you have conciou...

Re: Emptiness of Buddhist currents
I don’t understand your definition of emptiness based on your three levels of being. So I can’t comment on that. But I like those levels as they are presented. If I could try to represent them as I see things: 1/ bare perception of five types. 2/ perhaps the kasinas - earth, water, fire, air, red, ...

Emptiness of Buddhist currents
Hi I would like to try to define a conception of emptiness common to all currents of Buddhism, and without using too complex and erudite terms. Here is my attempt: ♦ first of all I would say that conceptually we have to distinguish several levels of realities more or less deep: 1/ there is the senso...

Re: Problem concerning nirvana
there can be no eternal Self self view is either … self or no self the teaching is to regard (the body) as not self No, that's Advaita. However, I know that in the Mahayana, tathagatagarbha can very easily be seen as the atman of advaita vedanta. And, regarding it, I find that the advaita atman is ...

Re: Problem concerning nirvana
there can be no eternal Self self view is either … self or no self the teaching is to regard (the body) as not self What I have heard from many people is that the body is not an eternal Self, but that the body is a conventional momentary (instantaneous) Self that is constantly changing. So when we ...

Re: Problem concerning nirvana
Why "Then is there no self?" A second time, the Blessed One was silent. Very interesting thank you. So the Buddha's teaching would be rather: 1/ aggregates are not eternal, so there can be no eternal Self in the aggregates; 2/ outside the mind, there is no eternal entity, so there can be ...

Problem concerning nirvana
I opened the Buddhism dictionary of a specialist, and in the section of nirvana, he says among other things: "While enlightenment evokes the certainty of exiting samsara, nirvana is an experience of unconditioned reality, which is therefore more than just the extinction of samsara. In Theravda,...

Re: After his liberation, did Gautama Buddha live in samsara?
Consider this Passage about the Buddha's return after Enlightenment: Doṇasutta—Bhikkhu Sujato Numbered Discourses 4.36 4. Situations Doṇa At one time the Buddha was traveling along the road between Ukkaṭṭhā and Setavyā, as was the brahmin Doṇa. Doṇa saw that the Buddha’s footprints had thousand-spo...

After his liberation, did Gautama Buddha live in samsara?
(I have many very important questions for my spiritual path. May this post and your messages awaken myriads of beings). For the Mahayana, there is a dynamic nirvana in which a Buddha can experience nirvana while interacting with beings in samsara to help them liberate themselves. In this regard, I h...
