Re: UEFA Euro 2024

Spain wins and on the same day that Alcaraz (also of Spain) won the men's singles Wimbledon 2024. But at least Alcaraz didn't defeat a Brit in the final (it was Djokovic, a Serbian).

Re: Please spare a prayer for my deceased laptop

May it find peace and happiness forever. I pray its next life is safe and secure, as a Protonmail server. I'm sure you're joking, but inanimate objects don't reincarnate (get reborn). However, it is somewhat possible. If the parts are properly disposed of at a recycle center, the parts might get me...

Re: Salaries at a Non Profit

But a person donating $10 to a charity is doing so under the belief that their $10 is going to the cause of the charity, not to some executives new boat. Is it ethically ok to make a living off a non profit charity? Any thoughts on this? Yes, it's ethical because they are doing work and a service a...

Re: AI's Answer

Can you go back to AI and ask why (e) was not chosen? Apparently they really exist. Sufiah Yusof was a math genius who became a prostitute. I remember reading in one article that she would recite some math problems and proofs while performing her services. https://cilisos.my/5-stories-of-genius-mal...

Re: AI's Answer

In this scenario, I would choose option b) A realized Buddhist monk I imagine adherents of religions would all choose some clergy member from their religion. So the question should be addressed only to agnostics/atheists. Or alternatively, to ask people which choice, but you can't pick someone from...

Re: IQ according to Buddhism?

I meant, "Are modern measures of intelligence closely similar to the ancient measures?", (excluding the Dhamma wisdom). eg: extrapolation, counting, puzzle solving, maths, logics, physics discoveries etc. Not sure, I assume so. There are different Pali words for wisdom (paññā) vs. intelli...

Re: UEFA Euro 2024

The first half had, apparently, been brilliant, with England dominating the Dutch and playing exciting attacking football. But by the time I got there, the Dutch had closed down our midfield and it was back to business as usual. There's a moral there: when meditating, meditate, and when watching fo...

Re: IQ according to Buddhism?

What do you think regarding the following information from the Commentary. One can be intelligent but have no knowledge (high IQ but never obtained an education) or wisdom. One can have high knowledge but not have high intelligence nor wisdom. However, one with (Buddhist) wisdom who was previously ...

Re: celebrity tried being a commoner, says it sucks

Here is one of my brief moments as a fake-celebrity: On one of my visits to Ethiopia, back in the late 1990s my sister-in-law took me to the school where she teaches in an elementary school. It was an inner-city school and most of the students were poor, some homeless. When they saw a white guy with...
