Re: Satipatthana fully developed before n8fp development start

This is what I call an ordinary folk that is so confused. Clearly stated in many sutta Samma Sati = 4SP. Non returner and arahant can do this fully. Any others that teach 4SP will need to be examined accordingly. If they don't know lower teaching, they are teaching something that they don't know. (...

Re: nonexistence, Borgs and bodhisattas

Moderator note: This thread has no connection to any path that I know of, and no attempt has been made to establish one. It appears to be a confused ramble based on fiction. I've closed it.

Think again... https://thedailyenlightenment.com/2012/03/the-buddhas-victory-over-a-god-demon/ Very relevant, as many Christian churches celebrate the Feast of Christ the King on this day. Do you think that the quote from Revelation 22 refers to Baka Brahma or some other deity from the Buddhist pan...

Re: The Alpha & the Omega, huh?

When it comes to Yahweh it looks more like an Asura to me. God like but violent. Does the quote from Revelation 22 refer to Yahweh? He was a tad tribal, and by the time of Revelation he seems to have given up his insistence on circumcision and exclusivity. I don’t think this is about Yahweh no. Reg...

Does the quote from Revelation 22 refer to Yahweh? He was a tad tribal, and by the time of Revelation he seems to have given up his insistence on circumcision and exclusivity. Is Yahweh circumcised? If no, why not? His son (Jesus) got circumcised. Inquiring minds want to know. He would hav...

Re: Vedanānupassanā

I've been searching online but can't seem to figure out the answer to this. Mindfulness of pleasant/unplesant/neither feelings is called vedanānupassanā. What does the "nu" represent? Anupassanā means "contemplating, viewing, considering, observing". It's passanā - seeing - with...

Re: Ethics based on intention vs consequences

Hi all, I hope this is a suitable place to raise this topic? The Pali Canon frequently (usually, even) defines the ethics of actions based on whether they are driven by the unwholesome root - actions of body, speech and mind that are driven by greed, hatred or delusion are considered unethical. The...

Re: How to explain Buddhism to Christians

Living in the southern USA, Christianity is the dominant religion. It is common for people to assume I’m Christian and when I tell them I’m Buddhist, they do not really understand what that means aside from whatever preconceived ideas they have fabricated. For those of you like me who find yourself...
