Re: celebrity tried being a commoner, says it sucks

I was never a celebrity.
However, I had a glance at that a few times.
I felt very uneasy and stressed.
I wanted to be normal like any other person.
This reminds me of Titanic.

Re: Atomism and Nuclear Energy

In Ancient Greece its atoms which have been declared as first or last elements of which everything is constructed / fabricated (atomism). Nuclear energy (today) is based on nuclear fission that means by breaking up the structure of atoms. I hope that’s quite right what I wrote. Why are you asking? ...

Re: celebrity tried being a commoner, says it sucks

You can't make someone else rich by becoming poor.
Only the rich can help the poor.
Poor no matter what get third-class treatment. You don't need a research to do it.
There are people in society who always give and others who always ignore.

Re: 3 things which stir up the mind of an anāgāmi

Please look in AN10.13 Samyojana sutta which describes fetters. An anagami will be left with final 3 fetters , to become an arahat and which are desire for arupa bhava, conceit or mana with restlessness and finally avidya. Pl. download samyojana sutta (an 10.13) to read. Identity view or sakkaya di...

Re: 3 things which stir up the mind of an anāgāmi

Hello, A few years agao, I recall a very knowledgeable senior monk telling me of a sutta in which it is said that there are three things which still disturb the mind of an anāgāmi: thoughts of his reputation, thoughts of his family, and thoughts of his country. Recently I was discussing this with s...

Re: Atomism and Nuclear Energy

Agree. However Buddha never said the matter (Rupa) as permanent. Perhaps only Buddha's theory still surpasses the modern day science. (Patavi, Apo,Thejo,Vayo, space and consciousness) Scientist still have not come up with any description of the consciousness. Even if they come up they can't surpass ...

Re: Atomism and Nuclear Energy

Venerables and friends, Is there any relationship between the ancient philosophy of atomism and the modern discovery of nuclear energy - apart from the name? Thank you :anjali: In Ancient Greece its atoms which have been declared as first or last elements of which everything is constructed / fabric...

Re: Is Rapping Tipitaka inappropriate?

Re the video that people crying is bit concern. We can hire crying ladies at funerals for few dollars. :D Nah, no need to pay/hire crying ladies. If at least 50% Americans, many of whom devout Christians, believe Trump as their God's chosen one, it should be no surprise that 100% North Koreans beli...

Do Buddhist give thanks to meal providers?

Do Buddhist give thanks to meal providers?

I have seen some cultures give thanks to people who provide food.
It include cows, farmers cooks etc who help to bring the food to the table.
Who practice this?
What is sound like "Prathaveksha"?
Is this a part of Buddhist practice?

What is the nutrient to continue it? Only the self-view or not knowing Anatta. In other words ignorance. This is why ignorance is the first link in DO. That’s not the ignorance If you really want to be a Theravada Buddhist, you have to straighten your views. It seems that you take the Nibbana as an...

We need two mad dogs for that. I can see a dog fight but I can't see anyone is mad so far. America has democracy. China works under the radar. Russians still have some sense of control. Not sure of North Koria India is no problem. Muslims retaliate only if someone challenges their religion. It will...

Consciousness stops when it stops providing four nutrients. Not quite What is the nutrient to continue it? Only the self-view or not knowing Anatta. In other words ignorance. This is why ignorance is the first link in DO. This is the key teaching in Buddhism and it seems you have not grasped this.
