What happened to the Sinhalese commentaries?

What happened to the Sinhalese commentaries?
The way I understand the present Sinhalese commentaries are translated to Pali by ven Buddhagosha.
Are the Sinhalese original commentaries still surviving in Sri Lanka?

Re: Upādāyarūpaṁ

As per Abhidhamma, there are four great elements. The rest of the 24 elements are termed Upadayrupa. This can be further analysed as that out of 18 concretely produce Rupa, 14 of them are Upadayrupa of the four great elements. Other 10 abstract Rupa produced by other causes. https://puredhamma.net/t...

Re: What Does “Paccayā” Mean in Paṭicca Samuppāda?

Modes of Conditioning Buddhism teaches that all phenomena, mental and physical, arise through conditions. In the Abhidhamma the modes of conditionality are analyzed into twenty-four types of relationship, each representing a tie between a condition and the phenomena it conditions. A brief account of...

What Does “Paccayā” Mean in Paṭicca Samuppāda?

What Does “Paccayā” Mean in Paṭicca Samuppāda? One of our Dhamma Wheel members Lal, examine the meaning of Pacaya in Paticca Samuppada. You really don’t have to do anything, you have freedom as inevitability.
Do as you like.
It is incorrect to say "Do as you like"
Sotapanna still follows the Noble Eightfold Path.

28 Rupa, cell structure and the human body?

The Abhidhamma analysis of 28 Rupa Kalapa is nothing more than the ancient way of defining the cell structure and the body structure of a sentient being. The difference is Abhidhamma asserts that there are much more smaller cell structures are existing at a more micro level. Perhaps millions smaller...

Re: Once you become a Sotapanna, do you still have to learn Dhamma?

Once you become a Sotapanna, do you still have to learn Dhamma? I think the answer has to do with how avija is understood. The two truths model allows for two interpretations: 1- Avija as the inability to distinguish sankhara from dhamma. The sotapanna transcended that by virtue of overcoming doubt...

Re: Risk of taking vaccine jab

My concern about this pandemic is why politicians are throwing millions of dollars printing money and obsess with vaccine.
What we need is good hospital care.
They would have done this with a fraction of the cost if they build some hospital facilities.

Matikas were the sources for the later Abhidhamma.
Yes. And then they started to live their own life, that's how Abhidhamma theory appeared.
I can recall a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk mention this too.

Re: Risk of taking vaccine jab

In any case, how it happened is irrelevant now. It's like arguing about the science of global warming when a tidal surge is lapping at your door, due to rising sea levels. We have to deal with it. No we don't have to deal with it, best is to forget it. Hopefully this topic is banned from dhamma for...

Re: Keep away from Mahamuna sect in Sri Lanka?

Have you read Abhidhamma yourself? If yes which book? Did you understand all the teaching in Abhidhamma? It's an ongoing study. Right now I am interested in the Patthana. I am studying it with the help of Rerukane Chandawimala Maha Thero's Patthan Maha pakarana Sannaya . And of course there are tal...

Re: Keep away from Mahamuna sect in Sri Lanka?

Moderator note. There seem to be two topics in this thread. The first is about Mahamevnawa and Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda, and is, as has been noted, apparently based on gossip or aversion. The other is a more general discussion about the place and validity of the Abhidhamma. If people want to fo...
