Re: Abhidhamma books

Thank you for your answer. I believe it is helpful text. So if I understand correctly... it is helpful to read articles and topics first (including commentary books) to understand meanings and then begin with pitaka. As Bhikkhu Bodhi said, reading Abhidhamma Pitka is like eating dry grass. So it is...

Re: Abhidhamma books

If you have never read Abhidhamma, I suggest you read the following short aricle. https://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/authors/mendis/wheel322.html Then read Bhikkhu Bodhi's Abhidhamma compilation. Google for a free copy. A Comprehensive Manual of Abhidhamma: The Abhidhammattha Sangaha of Ācariya Anu...

Re: The electric current in the body?

Now I started to wonder whether this is due to acid reflux.
(Unfortunately, it is not the sign of Arahantship  )
By the way are any of you have any recommendations for acid reflux?

Re: Happy nature and the opposite

According to Abhidhamma beings are born according to their past Kamma (Ahetuka Vipaka Citta)
However, using Citta Niyama they can change their ways with a lot of effort.

Re: How is aging & death impermanent?

Some conservatives in the US believe that life/existence begins with the heartbeat and seek to reverse the rules for abortion. In other words, you were "born" or came into existence with the first heartbeat. So who is right?
No heartbeat no consciousness?

Re: The meaning of "rupabhava" & "arupabhava"

Are there any Suttas or Pali commentary that support the idea 'rupa' can refer to literal 'material objects' (such as money & houses) and 'arupa' can refer to fame, honor, reputation, etc? I have never come across this interpretation in my reading or listening to Dhamma talks. Ten worldly condition...

I think all birth, aging, and death are impermanent.

Re: Khuddaka Nikāya: which books are words the Buddha ???

it is easier to become a sotāpannå using Abhidhammå than the suttå. If we (can) make a survey. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you. I do not think Abhidhamma alone will lead you to the Sotapanna state. My personal opinion is that a person can become a Sotapanna by reading only Sutta. However...

Re: The conceit of "i am equal"

Because by making such a comparison you cling and crave to concepts such as me, I, other, equal, unequal, superior, inferior. And thus there is conceit, you've fashioned a self, others, etc. It-s all about cutting through objectification, classifications, and perceptions. By letting go of all these...

Re: Khuddaka Nikāya: which books are words the Buddha ???

Āyasmā Sāriputtå Mahātherås sermons. The scholars say Patisambhidamagga was composed at 400 to 700 years after the Buddha. However, ignoring the above, the Buddha did not teach in the manner below, therefore it is impossible (as I said) for Sariputta to teach in the manner below. Sariputta (example...

they could not have remembered much individually
Memorising is the tool of Buddha's time.
It was not limited to Buddha's teaching.
Relying on Google is a modern thing.
Even nowadays there are many monks remember the whole Tipitaka.

Re: Breatharian

You will die. The Buddha tried going without food and it nearly killed him. I agree. All of the breatharian claimants are fake. They hide and eat when no one is looking. A person could go about 10 to even 30 days without food, especially if they are still drinking water and not too active, but perm...
