Re: Eyes Open Or Closed During Practice?
I shut my eyes and take off the contact lenses. If I held the eyes open, I would get too involved in the visual world. Problem with closed eyes, though, is you might feel like going to sleep. Way to solve that is to make an effort to sit erect, and do the best you can to get into a proper cross-leg ...

Re: Should I read "Manual for Insight"?
No, you should not.
Too difficult to understand for a beginner, and even if you are not, there is no use reading the commentaries. Much better to spend your time on the original teachings.

Re: What is Facebook?
I like Facebook. Allows me to post pretty pictures. People like them. What is wrong with that? Only thing I can say is that they used to let me get 3,000 likes, but now only 300. They want me to advertise. I'll do it when I have a calendar to sell. https://www.facebook.com/CoastalPhotographyByAlanHo...

Re: Child Lama. I think it is ridiculous.
So. I've learned at least one thing from this: There is such a thing called called Bon.
But, I don't care. Because it seems to be completely ridiculous.
Just like the idea that there could be a child lama.
There could not be a Child Lama, right?
In the Suttas, nothing like that was ever said.

Re: Race, IQ and Idenity politics: A debate.
When I was in High School the teacher said I was disruptive to the class, and made me get an evaluation.
Turns out, I have a very high IQ. Also, I piss off stupid people. And arrogant. I accept that.
But, don't think of myself as totally smart. Just that normal people are stupid.

I think dogs are pretty stupid.
Why the hell would they be able to bark all the time?
Barking all the time:
God dam Stupid.

Re: Race, IQ and Idenity politics: A debate.
As usual, I'm surprised that no one has challenged a statement, but just took it as a fact to be discussed. Hey Circle 5: Can you prove to me that "the average Indian has an IQ of 85, but the average emigrant has an IQ of 114?" That was your basic point. But let me ask you this: How the Hell do you ...
