Re: Eternal citta in "Theravada"? ---> probably Found.

The ci is what piles up — is what saṃkirati (sam-kṝ) — is what constructs — and is what observes. The ci is a secondary consequence, due to ignorance, and a feedback (paccaya) to the latter. citta agitated by namarupa results in the origination of secondary consequences. "ignorance" is not a thing-...

Isn't citta a byproduct of ignorance?

ignorance is prior to the possible inclinations of the citta. sankharas only constitute the modes of the citta, they don't "create" its ontological is-ness. so no, citta is not a byproduct.

Re: Eternal citta in "Theravada"? ---> probably Found.

Once the citta is liberated through sati (https://justpaste.it/5ohh2) and samadhi (https://justpaste.it/5x298), ONE MUST ALSO liberate him/herself from the citta in the higher jhanas. As stated in SN 46.3: "withdrawal of body and withdrawal of citta liberate oneself from the citta? that is a ...

u mean get rid of all phenomena by not cognizing it as this or that (fixed image?) no. i mean getting rid of self-objectification / false identification : "i am this , this is me , this is myself"... your cognitions and perceptions should be as clear and sharp as they can get , you should even trai...

Re: what is the sutta that says the ending of conciousness..

there is a sutta by ven. ananda or sariputta or ven.cunda (i dont remember) in that the teaching (ven ananda or sariputta) will say that ending of conciousness means just reminderless ending of conciousness... this sutta will dispell doubts of soul or something enduring with cessation of conciouisn...

Re: Arahants and magic tricks

yes, the trick can work on an arahant. because understanding how the trick is done is a technical / epistemological problem, whereas the arahant's knowledge covers the ontology of “being”. an arahant wouldn't directly know about the mechanics of a piano. but he would clearly understand the meaning,...

Re: Arahants and magic tricks

I know this might be a silly question, but is it possible that Arahants get deceived by a magic trick? What i mean is: they do not necessarily get impressed by it, but can the trick work on them without knowing how it works? yes, the trick can work on an arahant. because understanding how the trick...

Re: Can other religions contain eightfold path?

The idea in the Quran behind separating Muslims from Christians and Jews in worship is one given to create the Muhammedian religion, in order for them to create their own method of worship and their own sets of beliefs. Many religions do this to this day, and it is what you are doing right now in s...

(...) But the thing is, to some Christians living in the area, it is quite plausible for them to have any manner of heterodoxy concerning Mary and Jesus. yes, there was a female-dominated sect in pre-islamic arabia that worshipped mary. https://www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/collyridianism

it is possible, especially if one is not sincerely interested in following the noble eightfold path. i've had my experiences with it, and i can assure you that it is no toy. if you have an overthinking mind, it'll hurt you in ways you never knew were possible. P1) Essence is necessary for existence. P2) That which is without essence does not exist. P3) Citta = cognition. C1) Citta has essence. C2) Therefore, citta exists. it seems to me that you're trying to “existentialize” buddhism, because cognition is a process.....i mean, if citta = cognition then o...

Yes, I know we've all be here before (pun intended). But my questions are; What is Reborn? you are. Has anybody considered the role of genetics in Rebirth? physical factors all have their roles. they are not the root cause for one's birth , because if they were, liberation would be impossible...
